High Peak MP, Robert Largan, has launched his ‘Best Decorated Street’ competition for a second year to bring some extra cheer to the festive season.
Lots of streets got involved in last year’s completion, with Parkway in New Mills being the deserved overall winner.
On Sunday 5th December Robert visited Parkway in New Mills to present them with a plaque during this year’s light switch on.
The event involved Father Christmas and his Elf handing out presents, Christmas carols, mince pies and mulled wine. All proceeds raised go to Blythe House Hospice.
Robert hopes to see whole streets getting involved again with decorating their houses and gardens as much as possible with Christmas lights, decorations, ornaments, and whatever else people come up with.
Anyone can nominate a street in the High Peak, by filling out a short form on Robert’s website at www.robertlargan.co.uk/xmasstreet
Nominations are open until Sunday 12 December.
Robert Largan MP said:
“Once again, I'm running a 'Best Decorated Street' competition for Christmas.
“High Peak always does Christmas properly and I want to celebrate that and help bring some extra cheer to the festive season.
“It was great fun to present Parkway in New Mills, the winner of the High Peak Best Decorated Street Competition last Christmas, with a plaque and to be there for the switch on this year.
“A huge well done to everyone on Parkway for going the extra mile and doing such a brilliant job spreading festive cheer.
“I'm really looking forward to seeing all the entries and deciding which High Peak street is the 'Best Decorated' this year.”
