High Peak MP Robert Largan has welcomed the news that the 393 bus route will include an additional stop on Bernard Street, Glossop from 25th April 2022.
The change will enable bus users to access Aldi and the lower end of High Street West more easily.
The service will initially operate as a ‘Hail & Ride’ service until High Peak Borough Council installs a standard fixed bus stop.
The additional stop was secured after the local MP raised the issue with High Peak Buses on behalf of local residents. This was following local people attending one of Mr Largan’s weekly help and advice surgeries, to urge action on the issue.
The 393 route is currently operated by High Peak Buses and services Hadfield, Padfield, Dinting Vale, Glossop Bus Station and Shirebrook.

Robert Largan MP commented:
“I’m really pleased that High Peak Buses have listened to local people and agreed to add this stop. It will make a real difference to lots of local people, especially those who have mobility issues.
“By improving local public transport, we also reduce the number of cars on the road in the Glossop area, alleviating congestion at busy times of the day.
“This is a small but positive step for local public transport. But lots more needs to be done.
“I’m still campaigning for a proper replacement for the old 236 bus and getting a direct bus to Tameside Hospital and Ashton College. I’m still pushing Northern for a restoration of a full train timetable too.”
