Local MP Robert Largan is delighted to confirm that Derbyshire will receive over £6 million in Government funding, of which over £2.4 million is specifically earmarked for High Peak.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the Government’s flagship Levelling Up white paper which aims to spread opportunity and prosperity to all communities.
The High Peak MP helped secure over £2.4 million for the High Peak from the Fund, which seizes on the opportunities gained by leaving the European Union.
The funding will allow for investment in domestic priorities and targeting funding where it is needed most: building pride in place; supporting pay, employment and productivity growth; supporting high quality skills training; and increasing life chances across the UK.
A key part of the Fund is Multiply, the adult numeracy programme, which has been granted over £550 million. Derbyshire County Council will receive more than £3.75 million to provide local support for people to improve their numeracy skills, equipping adults across the county with the skills they need to progress in life.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“I am delighted that over £6 million in grants has been awarded to Derbyshire, including over £2 million for investment solely in the High Peak. These grants will provide crucial support for many High Peak residents, communities and business, and make the area an even more special place to live.
“It is essential that people have the opportunity to access educational opportunities throughout adulthood. I am pleased that Multiply will enable adult learners across the High Peak to enhance their employability and life chances.
“I will keep working to get more investment for the High Peak, so that individuals and businesses continue to survive and thrive”.
