The Snake Pass (A57) will close for four weeks in September so that an investigation into the cause of a landslip at Alport can take place.
Work will start on Monday 26 September and last for four weeks. The road will be closed to all users from Doctors Gate to Hagg Farm, a distance of 5.6 miles. During that time the road at Woodhouse Cottage will also be resurfaced.
This follows storms earlier this year which left major cracks in the road.
Derbyshire County Council has contacted all those who live or have businesses on the Pass.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“The closure of the Snake Pass will be hugely disruptive for local residents and businesses.
“I will be working with Derbyshire County Council to ensure that this disruption is kept to a minimum, businesses can continue to operate, and the road is open again as soon as possible.
“The Council must find a long-term solution to the landslips on the Pass to avoid similar closures in future.”
