High Peak’s MP has asked local people for their views on how to spend £10million in Buxton town centre.
Following lobbying efforts led by Robert Largan MP, Buxton has received £6.6 million from the Government’s Future High Streets Fund.
High Peak Borough Council has signalled their intention to commit a further £4.2 million to the scheme, bringing the total funding for regeneration to over £10 million.
The Government has also provided a £1 million Heritage grant, to improve the historic shop fronts on Spring Gardens.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, has launched a survey, asking for residents to share their views on how they would like the money to be spent and what they think regeneration in the town centre should look like.
High Peak residents can submit their views by completing Mr Largan’s survey at the following address: robertlargan.co.uk/buxtonsurvey
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“This money is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Buxton. It’s important that we get it right and don’t waste the money on councillor’s pet projects.
“High Peak Borough Council need to listen carefully to local residents and businesses when fine tuning their proposals.
“Tell me what you think and I will take the results to the Council. Let’s work together to make Buxton even better!”
