The Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities has today announced that High Peak will benefit from £2,412,072 in funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The £2.6 billion Shared Prosperity Fund was launched on 13 April 2022 and local authorities across England were asked to submit a three-year investment plan in the summer. All investment plans for England were approved by the Department.
Local authorities will now work with the Department to finalise spending plans.
High Peak MP Robert Largan, who sits on the High Peak Shared Prosperity Fund Board, has welcomed this historic investment and has committed to working with High Peak Borough Council to formulate a three-year investment plan.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“Since being elected, I have consistently banged the drum for more investment in High Peak.
“I am proud of my record, whether it’s reinstating the local breast cancer screening unit; the upgrade of the Hope Valley railway line; the approval of the Mottram Bypass & Glossop Spur Road; securing £10million to regenerate Buxton town centre; or the expansion of Glossopdale School.
“This shows that this Government is serious about levelling up places like High Peak. Let’s work together to make the High Peak an even better place to live!”
