Connor Smedley aged nine from All Saints School in Glossop has won High Peak MP Robert Largan’s annual Christmas card competition.
As in previous years, the competition was to decide the design of the MP’s Christmas e-card, with Mr Largan donating what he would have spent on cards and envelopes to local domestic abuse charity, Crossroads Derbyshire.
To decide this year’s winner, Mr Largan enlisted the help of a special guest judge – the Prime Minister. After careful deliberation, Connor Smedley aged nine from All Saints Catholic Voluntary Academy in Glossop was declared as the winner.
Amelia Drabble aged 10 from Peak Forest Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School was awarded second place and Millie aged 10 from St Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy in New Mills finished in third place.
Mr Largan’s e-card will be sent out to subscribers of his regular email newsletter. You can sign up to his regular email news bulletin at the following address: www.robertlargan.co.uk/newsletter.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I’m once again doing my bit to be environmentally friendly by not sending a paper Christmas card and donating the cost to support fantastic local charity, Crossroads Derbyshire who support victims of domestic abuse.
“But I also want my e-card to look great and showcase the creativity of local children.
“I’m delighted that the Prime Minister was available to judge this year’s entries and I would like to congratulate Connor Smedley for his winning drawing.”
Grainne Beaumont, Headteacher at All Saints Catholic Voluntary Academy, commented:
“I am delighted that the Prime Minister picked out Connor’s drawing. Congratulations to Connor for his fun and festive drawing!”
