On 3rd January 2023, Robert Largan MP visited the Elim Christian Centre in Glossop for Warm Tuesday. This local Church has been offering a free warm space for people to have a free lunch and dinner every Tuesday since 1st November 2022. They currently have a team of 38 volunteers who serve over 50 people each week and plan to run this initiative until at least March 2023.

“I had a really lovely afternoon at Elim Christian Centre, Glossop for Warm Tuesday, where local people can come for a cup of tea, a slice of cake, a bowl of soup, a chat and maybe even a game of Connect Four. It’s a great initiative to help people keep warm and tackle loneliness. The volunteers are all absolutely lovely and I really enjoyed chatting with everyone.

“I know that this is a deeply worrying time for many High Peak residents, so it’s great that people are coming together to support each other through initiatives like Warm Tuesdays.
