Stockport NHS Trust have announced that significant progress has been made in the construction of a new emergency and urgent care campus at Stepping Hill Hospital.

The latest development follows the completion of the new campus’ rapid assessment unit in December 2023.
The new Emergency Care Campus project includes a full remodelling of the existing emergency department along with new assessment, treatment and consultation areas for several key emergency and urgent care service, including the children’s emergency department, mental health, and medical same day emergency care.
Once complete the campus will help to improve emergency and urgent care for the people of Stockport, High Peak and Cheshire East.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
I am very pleased that construction is continuing to progress at Stepping Hill Hospital, providing High Peak residents with better access to high quality NHS healthcare.
I’ve always been clear that I will fight to defend the NHS and local services. On top of the new £31 million Stepping Hill Emergency Care Campus, we’re also building a new £16.3 million Urgent Care Centre at Tameside Hospital. I’m also working with the local NHS on plans for a new major health centre for Buxton.
